More Methods:
Here I describe three cheating methods:
- lying about your cards
- check-copping
- holding cards back
Lying about the Cards:
We all know the expression cards speak, and that means that a player can say whatever he likes, but the winner is determined by the cards that must be revealed at the end of the round, so do not listen to anyone calling a bad hand a flush, but see it itself. If such mistakes occur, it is better to ask the dealer who makes them leave for this evening, especially if it is not the first time. If it really was an honest mistake, the player is probably not in condition to play. If it was an attempt to cheat, this player will do much less harm outside the game.
Check-Copping:
If a player folds to appoint him tender of the pot, stacks chips, counts them, and delivers them to the winning player, this helpful player can easily grab a chip without anyone noticing. With simple odorless glue or just a bit of dexterity this trick can be easily performed. Following the rules can prevent this. No one, but the winner can touch the pot.
Holding Back Card:
Another way to cheat is to discard fewer cards than has been declared. A cheater can easily throw two cards to the discards pile or just put them above other players discards, cover one card in his hand with another one and say that he discards three. This extra card can later be hidden in the cheater's vest and no one will ever know about it. That is why it is very important that the dealer grab the discards of each player separately, paying attention to the number of cards.
NOTE: preventing any kind of cheating is the task of the dealer. Dealers receive serious positional advantage, and in exchange must be very attentive during the whole game.
